    Default Page not found

I can't post replies. I get the error below. I think the server is bellowing smoke...

This has happened to several of us. It is sporadic. I first thought it was because of port connectivity.
My solution has been to cancel the post and start over.

If you want to experience the effect (but probably for a different reason and different circumstance) go to the Learn Java/Java Code forum. Then click on Gimbal2's post. You'll also get the error.

I just went to my settings to check my signature. If I try and preview the signature, I get the page error.

Well, now my signature's gone! I decided to cut and save it offline and then delete it online.
That worked so I didn't get the page error. Now I cannot set any signature as I get the page
    error.

Edit: I think I know the problem. I have URL's in my signature. It tries to evaluate them and
if it can't it says, Page not found. If I take the URL's out, then there doesn't seem to be a
problem. So it is related to connectivity.

Edit: I simply had to re-add the URL's and it worked! Apparently it didn't like the previous
ones when I tried to save it. All is well now!

    Regards,
    Jim

This a lower priority (compared to forum spam) and hard to solve task for me (this can be a bug in the forum software but the forum is running the latest version already).
I guess some characters in posts generates this problem.

When spam problem is solved, i will try to solve this problem. In the mean time, please share your experiences on this thread. Any hints will be helpful to analyze the problem.
I am making this thread sticky.

yeah I was having major major trouble making a large post with two blocks of code. Finally gave up, because the site constantly became unresponsive I thought maintenance was being performed!

Just to note that when I tripped the problem, any attempt to go to the 'newpost.php' page (or whatever it is called) would cause a 'page not found' error; be it through a quick reply or by clicking the 'reply to thread' or 'go advanced' buttons. If I'd be able to go to the 'reply to thread' page, actually posting the reply would still cause the page not found error. Weirdness. Also, tried on both Firefox and Chrome with the same result.

EDIT: reading Jim's reply, I also had a link in there...

As long as we're' talking about forum problems, trying searching for something using the textfield in the the top right
main menu. I see lines of VB stuff that apparently shouldn't be there. Perhaps this should be another thread.

Now that I've seen. I think VB is for VBulletin, not Visual Basic.

still happens with only a bit of code, and I'm starting to have the dreaded feeling that I'm actually causing PHP to crash or something which also triggered Surfman to not be able to reach the site yesterday (thus making me the root of all evil in this thread). Did anyone else experience an inability to reach the site in the last 5 minutes?

I'm going to attach the offending code which triggered the problem.

Yarp, pasting that code in quick reply and clicking "Go Advanced" bombs out. I always thought your code sucked :)
