    Default ApplicationContext cannot be resolved to a type

    I'm following the following page to construct a simple hello project on eclipse

    Spring Hello world example in eclipse | Java tutorial for beginners

    but I get the error:

    Java Code:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problems:
    	ApplicationContext cannot be resolved to a type
    	ClassPathXmlApplicationContext cannot be resolved to a type

    	at org.arpit.Main.main(Main.java:11)
    I notice there is a deprecate warning on the following line
    Java Code:
     import org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanFactory;
    and the "XmlBeanFactory" is crossed by a bar

    what is wrong?
    thanks

    The comments on that "article" (quoted, because it doesn't provide any actual information, only a guide on where to click) already answer most of your questions.
