Default The Java JAR file "stdlib.package.jar" could not be launched

Hi. I tried to download a JAR file for Eclipse on a Mac OS and the message "The Java JAR file "stdlib.package.jar" could not be launched" appeared. How do I download this JAR file without this error coming up?

I'm very inexperienced with this so any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Please and thank you x

What is the jar file supposed to contain?
Does it have a program that is to execute?
Or does it have class files that are to be used when compiling and executing other programs?

Sorry, that does not mean anything to me.
Why did you download the jar file?
What are you trying to use it for?

It sounds like it contains class files to be used when compiling and executing programs. It might not contain a program that is to be executed.
If so, then the file needs to be copied to where it is avaiiable for when you compile and execute your programs.

Norm is asking whether it is a complete project that you want to import into your IDE or whether it is an external library that you want to add/import to your project.
I'd say this is an external library that you are supposed to import into your project. It is done in the project properties. My suggestion was to search for a tutorial on google or youtube for "import external libraries eclipse".

I wouldn't think it was a project. I think of projects as having source files and control files that would be used to build a product program.

Default The Java JAR File could not be launched.

I tried to download this: Standard Libraries but the error came up "The Java JAR file could not be launched. Check console for possible errors"
I went to the terminal and got this error when I dragged the JAR file into it:s19435800:~ nicolebotha$ java -jar/Users/*******/Downloads/stdlib.jar
    Unrecognized option: -jar/Users/******/Downloads/stdlib.jar
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.
    s19435800:~ ******$

    Please can someone help

    Java Code:
    java -jar/Users/*******/Downloads/stdlib.jar
    lacks a space. Should be

    Java Code:
    java -jar /Users/*******/Downloads/stdlib.jar
Of course, that will only work if that jar is executable. Its name doesn't really suggest it is
