    Default learning java question

Hi, I know some java including classes, objects, methods, try catch etc etc. I can write a boulderdash game, make some simple applications. When I look at code to copy files, burn cd's, open outlook and send an email, it looks very confusing to me. How do you guys figure this stuff out? do you just copy most of the code from somewhere and just modify to suit your needs?

Programming by copying/pasting is the new hype where nobody understands anymore how stuff is working and why; as long as it seems to work. Don't go that way but try to understand what you're doing and why you're doing it.

    kind regards,

Sometimes it can take quite a bit of time because there is a lot to learn. And it is not necessarily easy to do. An additional benefit of actually knowing how stuff works is that during the process you will inevitably learn other things (related or unrelated) that you may need in the future.

When I learned C using Borland Turbo C, I thought it was difficult at first but then learning C++ made me reconsider my first evaluation. The problem with OOP is the sheer amount of code available to do things. It all comes down to experience. Bit like learning automotive engineering and the number of models available.

tutorials but first you need to get up to speed on the keywords to Google. Like Outlook I don't have experience using it but I believe it is accessed using Javamail API
JavaMail API - Third Party Products

    sending emails another way
