Default I learned Java, now what?

Hi everyone, I've just finished reading a quite complete and deepened book about java programming, and now I think I know enough to start coding. I'd like to create some basic programs with a graphic interface and simple tasks to begin and make experiences. The problem is that i don't know how to start. In the book I've read there's just a little section about GUI, and describes JavaFX. I don't know if JavaFX it's the best choice for beginners, and, even if I knew that, I wouldn't be able to use it properly. So, what can you suggest me to begin making simple GUI? I tried to search on the internet but everything's very confused and i couldn't find what I need. I aks you to recommend me a tutorial, a book, anything that can start me without too much difficulties in this world.

I don't recommend you spend a huge amount of time moving into designing creative GUIs right now but instead I recommend you build some programs using what you have learned. This will set in concrete the lessons you have spent a good amount of time reading and it is very important that you use it or you will in fact lose it. JavaFX is the new technology I would definitely want to spend most my time learning that if I were starting now. I think your question is a very common question for programmers to ask where to start when they are new. My answer is you need to find something that interests you because half the game is interest when trying to learn.

Yeah, ok, but you said that i should build some programs using what I have learned, but the problem is that I don't know how. Right now I can just make a Eclipse Project and run it through eclipse, but, if I wanted to create an actual program, with a little interface, and run it as an exe file, I wouldn't know how.

Well, first you don't run Java programs as exe files. Then are run as input to a Java interpreter which executes the Java byte code.

Assuming the book had code examples to run did you try and run them? Did you then make modifications to see what would happen? A simple program would be to prompt for user input in one temperature scale (Fahrenheit or Celsius) and then convert it to the other. Or using interfaces, can you create two simple classes and have each implement an interface and then create instances of those classes. Then use the instances to call the interface method? If you can't do those then you need to stay away from GUI's and JavaFX. Get a handle on the basics first.

Yes yes, I know all these things, I studied the java basics, the object orientation basics, and other things like anonymous class, lambda expressions, method references, enumerations, annotations....

But you are contradicting yourself as you also said the following:

Sorry, with interface i meant a GUI, not a java interface. Also I meant that I don't know how to create a GUI, even if very simple, combine it with the rest of the program and execute it. I'm asking if there's a book or a tutorial that can help me.
