    Default .docx to rtf converter

    Hi I'm new to Java but I got a converter docx to rtf/text editor for rtf to make, first I need to design it on UML.

    I have something like this for my First diagram

    User-Use Case1 Convert - Use Case2 Edit text - Use Case3 Save

    Then I don'r really know what goes into Class diagram:

    Maybe something like this but not really sure

    Converter Editor

    void Upload() char ChangeStyle()
    void Save() void Save()

    For the coding part I don't know where to start but I'm looking for similarities on Pdf to docx converters. I know this is lot of work but I really need help cause I'm poor taking care of my family and can't afford a private professor.
    Please help me guiding through the right use cases, classes for the program and where to start in terms of the coding part.

    You can't just pickup an advanced langauge like Java by picking at it. The great news is there are online tutorials for free, also yoitube videos. Me writing software for you isn't helping you. Right now start reading and learning until you see something useful and then add it to your project. There are API for Word which is what I used when I wrote an app. But long before any of tha you need to know the basics. Use this desire, personal challenge yourself and be the best..

    Where to start? Start at hello world and work from there forward. If ANYTHING exists that you don't understand stop until you do. Read everything at least twice.

    I want to add that I didn't mean I would pay for an API. I would ise docx4j for example. Here's a refernece to another approach, I only looked it over I didn't try it.. Looks like an approach..

    Hey man I don't think I expressed the right way but this is for a programming class project I have, It's not a choice, you may also have asumed that I'm new to programming but I've worked with C already. All I'm asking here is a little guidance, I don't ask people to code for me just looking for the right direction/path(in terms of classes to use, use cases, libraries as you mentioned one) to go cause I can't find it myself, It's ok if you haven't done that kind of software I can understand it too. Please answer only if you had experience doing something similar and you remember the steps you took.

    I haven't but I will answer anyway. If I take you literally, your project is non-trivial. I would expect you need to be able to parse MS word documents and then map the appropriate formatting codes to rtf and re-write the document. I am not familiar with either but I presume it could be challenging. You might check out the Apache POI site.
    And as I have programmed in probably a dozen languages (and have become fluent in a few) I can tell you it doesn't really matter. Each language has its challenges.

    I apologize if I misread you and it is a shame that my links don't help. Good luck with it.

    Gorkuf I decided to play with docx4j I am going to get it all setup and make an Android app using It. There is solitions in existence for such tasks but you peaked my curiousity. Remember I mentioned I have experience playing with docx but not in Java and it seems fun. But even with experience this is a huge undertaking if I don't lose interest I think it will be at least a week of familarization. If I make anything decent I will put it on github
