Default Total Newb to Java looking for some advice and opinions.

Hello There! Hope everyone is doing good today :)

So. I'll try to make this quick and concise.

I am trying to learn how to create a JAVA program that will buy something on an online store for me. Basically, I collect art and sometimes something goes on sale and sells out in millesconds, I know it's because others are using bots and programs like this and the only way I will ever be able to buy something I want is to create something like this.

I have learned enough to know that I probably want to use JAVA to create such a tool.

The APP will need to be able to rapidly search a single page of an online store for a term that I define. When the item appears in the store, I want it to buy that item with Credit Card and SHipping info that I also define. I need the whole process to happen, like, under a second or two.

I guess what I am looking for from you guys are your opinions and advice:

If I just want to learn enough to make this one application with this one purpose, how realistic do you think it is? Can I teach myself this in a weekend or is it complicated stuff? Like, how would you rate the complexity of an app like this?

Also, where would I even begin? haha.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

If you don't know anything about Java (note: not JAVA), then no, you probably can't pull this off in a weekend.

It's not insanely complicated, but if you're coming in with zero knowledge, then you have to learn the basics first. That by itself can take a few weeks.

Sounds complicated to me. First, process a web page and constantly scan it looking for some specific product. Then bid on it or buy it and supply your credit card number and shipping and billing address. And make certain you hit all the appropriate accepts and other required responses. And make certain the site doesn't change the layout or all bets are off.

Perhaps there are tools that facilitate this but I would not want to write a bot to do this. Imho, programs like this tend to lack structure and are fraught with danger.

If u have no Java knowledge at all then it is impossible to create a bot like this in a couple weeks. If I was instead u then I would buy a bot or would hire a programmer for this stuff.
