Unhappy about the Interface Editor (Netbeans)

Hi everyone, i've worked with java for 1 month, i'm designing some practices at Netbeans IDE. my problem is i tried to make a single colorful interface using panels, adding colors and i want to know if i exist a way to give a color to the JFrame (i tried to use the background color option but this didn't work).

if you read it, sorry for my grammar mistakes.

Default Re: about the Interface Editor (Netbeans)

To set the background color of a JFrame you need to set the color of the content pane. And before you start to make your interface (I presume you mean gui), please do not use the interface designer. Try creating the panels and fields, etc by hand and using layout managers.
