    With no response from my professor, I'm in search of some help.

    My goal is to make 2 rectangles in the same window. so far I have this.

    import javax.swing.JComponent;
    import java.awt.Color;
    import java.awt.Graphics;
    import java.awt.Graphics2D;
    import java.awt.Rectangle;

    public class BoxComponent extends JComponent
    {
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
    {
    Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;

    Rectangle box = new Rectangle(10, 10, 250, 50);
    g2.setColor(Color.BLUE);
    g2.fill(box);

    Rectangle box2 = new Rectangle(20, 20, 250, 50);
    g2.setColor(Color.RED);
    g2.fill(box);

    }
    }

    After running the program I get one rectangle, the red one. If I take the code out for the red rectangle, I only get 1 blue one. What am I missing?

    Figured it out. Simple mistake. Had both boxes labeled as box.

    Thank you for letting us know that your problem is solved. To be more specific, you were filling the same Rectangle twice and not making use of the Rectangle box2.
