    Default Seating Plan/Chart

    Hi,
I am a beginner to Java (3-6 months). I have started a project to cement my knowledge. I want to develop a seating chart/plan where people can pick their seat etc. I have developed the UML diagrams etc for this project and want to start with a console version before developing a GUI version. Eventually I want to create a website where users can log in and reserve their seats etc.

Without sounding like I'm putting the cart before the horse, I want to know what Java technologies I will need to develop the final part of the project. At the moment I'm using Eclipse for getting through the Java text books.

    Thanks,
    Gus

Illegal, no. Impolite to cross post without informing all participating in the discussion, yes.

You've had some good answers on the other forum. We wouldn't want to repeat them here just because we don't know about the other thread.

Apologies, I am new to these forums. I am trying to gain knowledge and may have overlooked issues with my eagerness. I am looking for a "bigger picture" for my project and not for my homework to be done for me. I will strive to obey all forum rules and etiquette in the future.
Thanks for pointing this out to me.

I think your eagerness is getting the best of you here; I would refrain from wanting to build a web component if you are still working with Java textbooks; learning Java is a process of a good year of study and experimentation. Learning Java web development (which has a prerequisite of learning the theory and practice of the web in general first) is a process of years for many people; you're not going to do that in your current time frame.

Try starting with a simple Swing GUI which will mimic the functionality of a website to do everything on the client for now. Focus on the goal with the tools you know and can understand at this point in your education. It doesn't have to perfect, it only has to prove you can do it.

    ...

Basically what Winston Gutkowski recommends in your other thread.
