    Default Knowing programming languages

This isn't so much a programming question rather than a career discussion. Is it important to master a language? or should we know a lot about different kinds?

I've gotten pretty good at Java, so should I continue my Java studies or move on and start exploring other languages such as C++ and C#.\?

    Default Re: Knowing programming languages

Programming languages are not your bread and butter, they are only your hammers and saws. What will put a steak on the table is the art of software engineering which goes way beyond code; you will only learn that through many years of working experience, many never master it. You don't need too either.

As to learning different languages: investigate what your local job market wants, and learn THAT.
