Smile Need help with my project in Java class

    Good day guys!
Can someone here help with my project?
Our instructor asked us out to make a GUI with java that has a menu.
The menu contains these submenus: Open a file, Edit the File, and Exit.
This program should be able to open a text file, edit it and save it.

This is our first topic in GUIs. And I'm pretty sure I don't have any idea about it since
im used to CLI. Can someone help me with this?

    Thank you!
    BTW, im using netbeans.

Where have you got to and where are you stuck?

Also, do this by hand...don't use a GUI builder as they are usually more pain than they're worth if you don't already know how the GUI framework you are using actually works.

You're going to want the API (this is Java 6), and find the javax.swing package in the top left block. That'll be useful when you're trying to figure out what certain classes can do.
And the Swing tutorials, specifically the Swing Components bits (for the parts you'll need), the concurrency part (you might get away without this, but it almost always bites you if you don't know about it), and the layout part (this is easier than it looks).

Those are what I would call the Swing fundamentals. You don't need to go through the lot, but knowing they're there will at least give you something to refer to if you get stuck.
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

Also, if and when you have any specific question related to use of Swing, please post it in the AWT/Swing section, preferably with a SSCCE (Short, Self Contained, Correct (Compilable), Example) that demonstrates the problem, wrapped in code tags.
