Complete Novice = Need Advice
I'll start off with an apology if I'm in the wrong forum for my questions/issues ... but I can barely spell Java!
Last night, my PC (running Windows XP Pro) sent out over 100 e-mails to what appears to be everyone in my AOL address book. I'm running an up-to-date version of Norton Internet Security ... which, in the past, has always stopped what appears to be a virus or some sort of "infected" web page.
When I look at the messages that were sent, they all have the link "http://ddxx.crabdance.com/zq4t6zds.jsf" embedded in the message. First question is, is that link likely to be an attempt to cause the "clicker" to execute a "jsf" file? or is a "jsf" file even executable?
On a possibly related issue, can someone look at the list of Java programs listed below and tell me which ones I can remove?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

While this question really isn't what we deal with here, I'd suggest downloading Malwarebytes Special Offer! (download the free version, unless you want to buy it) and update and scan your computer with it. It should be able to remove anything you have picked up. After that, send out a mass email warning anyone in your address book.

No benefit in removeing any of those java programs, There all usefull and possibly but unlikely infected(usualy virused load into java as a application and therefore just need the registry link remove), consider system restore, reloading the computer or getting a good virus scanner like sunde said :D best of luck!

Downloaded, installed and ran a full scan with Malwarebytes ... all it found was this ... and it appears the TrojanDropperBCM files are false positives!

Re: Complete Novice = Need Advice
Such embedded links can work in may ways. We cannot track exactly what it is doing easily. Rather digging into them, best thing would be clean them up using a proper virus removal. If you really don't know about what is really going on, you may in trouble when digging.
Regarding the java update multiple item list in Add/Remove programs. Logically there cannot have dependencies on each other. So you should able to remove them all except the latest update. But practically it wont. So leave them as it is.
