How to get exceptions from Persistence methods?
I recently started working on a legacy web application that uses Vaadin and Persistence to connect to a mySQL data base. The application is working without trouble in the production environment and I reproduced a development environment on my laptop that doesn't work. Particularly, a call to Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory is hanging up the application, right at the start when the creation of a new data base connection is attempted. Using the debugger, the execution goes directly from that call into ThreadPoolExecutor.java where it doesn't do anything.
In all likelihood this a problem with the Persistence configuration, but I haven't managed so far to get any exception message that may help identifying it. There are no error messages written to the console, no error messages showing up in Tomcat, anything. I tried to include the call to Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory inside a try block, but no exception is caught.
Is there any other way to know what is causing the call to Persistence to fail? Thank you,
P.S.: I'm posting in this section because I didn't find one dedicated to Persistence. If the admins think it belongs some place else please move it there.
