It started with a cross platform app that gave me an error

So I am confident of the advice given there for the time being and I have downloaded an rpm and a *.tgz file.

Java Code:
root@kayve-laptop:/home/kayve/src# pwd
root@kayve-laptop:/home/kayve/src# ls
Book.bin jdk-7-linux-x64.tar.gz thesis
jdk1.7.0 scid stockfish-211-ja
jdk-7-linux-x64.rpm scid-4.3.tar
Ignore the non jdk stuff in that directory.

the README.html in jdk1.7.0 has me all over kingdom come Ubuntu 10.10 etc Java 6

Java Code:
root@kayve-laptop:/home/kayve/src# uname -a
Linux kayve-laptop 2.6.38-11-generic-pae #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 29 20:51:21 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I thought I have 64 bit dual core processor maybe I have the wrong tarball. My Ubuntu is Nutty Narwhal 11.04

Can't Install Ubuntu Natty Narwhal Java 7 JDK-ubuntu_version.jpg

As usual, I have scores of browser tabs open, and today most of them are pointing to random Java installation instructions.

Thanks in advance
