Which path to take?
Good day all,
Being a nood and all, I'd like some guidance if possible??
Coming from a PHP/WebDev background, I am very much wishing to get away from the whole HTML ball game. Most jobs out there in my area require some web development experience.
What possible paths are there in Java to take? besides web dev?
I know SOA is one, and mobile apps [Android, J2ME].
I really don't want to be stuck having nightmares of HTML [using templates of not].
Any tips will be greatly appreciated!
ciao

It's strange. if you say that you develop in background you don't touch any view layers. I mean about html :). OK. I think It's not important. Now It's very populate to develop on Android platform and I have looked many good vacancy on this skills.

Hi
I would very much like to work in Android, but here in South Africa there are very little places that offer such jobs.
I can't even sell an app yet, since we are not on the list of countries able to sell via the market
So I will have to wait until that is in place, then I can start my own business :D

Please explain me. Why do you not want to work on remote job? I know many resource where you can find a good job and have excellent salary. If you have fluent English and deep knowledge in Android platform you can get about 20-30$ per hour.

This is true, as you say. Thus far the Android apps is a side project of mine I am working on, a method of learning it of course. What I still need to learn, is how to skin the app properly. Like how to make the app look like the new Twitter. My tabs look too flat :(
But yes, I will look into a remote job once I am confident enough in Android. English is my second language, then PHP and MySql :D
