Default read specific data from the internet

I am trying to write a program that will read in specific data from a website, but i'm not sure how i should go about doing this or if it can even be done. The idea is that someone asks a question on a website i read that specific question into the program and do some massaging from there. If someone could point me in the write direction for getting this done it would be much appreciated.

    do some massaging
What kind of messaging? Its easy to scrape a web page, there are many many ways to do it, from sockets and regex, to URLS and DOM to html engines, etc...

I don't understand the purpose of your project.
