Where to start - GUI

Hello all!

A few months ago I started to learn Java. Now I am quite good, but everything I ever worked, it was in the CMD. Now I would like to start learning to program GUI applications, because I know they are much more fun =) But I have a few questions...

1)I was searching on Google, to found some good GUI tutorials. I found quite a lot of tutorials, but they didn't explain the example very well. Well, I fount some good stuff to, but not much. So, If you know any good site, can you tell the title?

2) Yes I am writing more or less only in Notepad + +, but I would also like to use another program. I know that the most common are Eclipse and Netbeans. What do you recommend for GUI programming, for beginner like me?

Having said that, here's my opinion...

• Do your GUI coding with Swing. It's a mature library that is robust, well known, and with lots of expertise in this and other forums should you get stuck.
• Either Eclipse or NetBeans should work fine as a full-featured robust GUI. You will likely do well with either of them.
• However if you use NetBeans, I urge you to avoid using its drag-and-drop GUI code generation features as this could slow down your ability to learn and understand Swing.
• Study the Oracle Java Swing tutorials as the first and best source for learning Swing

I will take a look at Oracle tutorials, thanks, and i will probably try use Eclipse, to learn Swing faster =)
