Required skills and experience:

• At least ten years software development experience; at least four years of technical leadership with independent architectural/design responsibilities; architecting at least one multi-tier, high transaction enterprise application
• At least five years of object-oriented analysis and design experience
• Working knowledge of J2EE
• Thorough understanding of enterprise application integration issues and experience with modern integration technologies
• Familiarity with cross-cutting concerns such as security, performance, scalability, maintainability and supportability
• Experience in data architecture, and data modeling
• Experience managing remotely distributed design and implementation teams
• Thorough knowledge of software development life cycle
• Proven ability to provide realistic effort estimates
• Proven verbal and written communication skills, ability to clearly articulate complex technical issues
• Strong presentation skills
• Analytical thinking, proactive attitude, self-motivation demonstrated through past experience
• Experience in performance and scalability testing and tuning; knowledge of Java profiling tools, Oracle profiling, specifics of Linux/Unix performance. Ability to direct performance and scalability testing and tuning efforts.

• Familiarity with Insurance Industry
• Experience in practicing Agile methodology
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture
• Knowledge of leading RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server preferred)
• Knowledge of mainframe technologies

• Familiarity with Open Source products
• Experience with such technologies as Spring, JPA/Hibernate, JSF
• Knowledge of Java Application Servers, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat
• Experience with code management tools: SVN, Mercurial, Maven, et cetera
• Customer communication and management skills
Education:
• BS CS/CE or equivalent degree required; MS or equivalent experience preferred
