So I understand this is a very subjective question but I was hoping to gain some guidance or advice.

I started texting myself java roughly two weeks ago and I believe it has been going fairly well. Mainly self taught from tutorials online except now I have an undergraduate text book on java programming that I am half way through.

My goal is to tech myself enough to atleast land a programming job and build my education from there. I do have a degree is finance / economics but nothing with computer science.

Are there any recommended paths I should take to albegin learning the basics required to get a programming job? Or in other words, what are some topics that are 'must knows' for a job.

As you can understand there is a lot of information to be found about java and trying to sift through the essentials at first is proving difficult.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
