Ive might have solved it has to use a 32 ODBC manager instead so i done that and now have a new error,

Query: select * from users where username='julieg' AND password='jpassword'
Log In failed: An Exception has occurred! java.sql.SQLException: Column not found

    Pretty self explanatory.
One of those columns doesn't exist...that is, presuming that is the actual query.

    Have you got the code?
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.
