Lyra is a front-end to the Music Player Daemon (MPD). Based loosely on the Creative Media Source software, it has the aim of supporting large collections of albums and artists. Other interesting features are the implementation of a local cache of the music library using an SQLite database, increased speed, and flexibility. In addition, Lyra supports integration with the Last.fm service, which includes "Scrobbling" and album cover art.
This release concentrates on getting rid of certain annoying user interface issues and bugs. Lyra originally had a series of image reference databases and document directories which were part of the install. If you moved the .jar file away from the supporting files, it would fail to load properly. Now, all of these elements have been moved to the .jar file directly, effectively freeing the application from its dependence on the directory structure.
