    Smile org.j3d is missing...

    ...because I have not yet installed it. Well, this is the snag: how do I install this? Where do I get it from?

    This is a snippet from the examples:

    Java Code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.vecmath.*;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    import java.util.HashMap;
    // Application Specific imports
    import org.j3d.geom.terrain.*;
    import org.j3d.geom.GeometryGenerator;
    import org.j3d.geom.GeometryData;
    import org.j3d.geom.UnsupportedTypeException;
    import org.j3d.ui.navigation.NavigationState;
    import org.j3d.renderer.java3d.geom.Axis;
    import org.j3d.renderer.java3d.navigation.MouseViewHandler;
    I tried to paint the "trouble spots" in red but that does'nt show in the code tag, but...there's not much to be added, org.j3d is not there. After compiling (using "make all") the Classes are there, in the tree as it should. There's no Jar, though...

    Any input would be welcome, even the hilarious type

    Some info about my box:
    P4, 1.5 Gb, and 250Gb SATA disk, Arch Linux, Eclipse. I had the source package, but compiling proves to be a challenge, let alone installing it.

    Any tips here?

    By the besides, i'd like to venture into the wonderfull world of 3D programming and I'l love to ramble with like-minded spirits about this, and that, and then some, all things Java 3D...

    The tarball is on their server, instructions
    - download
    - unpack in /opt/lib
    - enter Eclipse
    - open the project
    - select Project/Properties
    - select "add external jars"
    - locate and confirm

    I downloaded it here.

    I don't use eclipce so if you are ever going to need to use it in a terminal just locate the jar files and set the classpath and the ld library path like this

    export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:/blabla/lib/ext/j3dcore.jar:/blabla/lib/ext/j3dutils.jar:/blabla/lib/ext/vecmap.jar
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/blabla/lib/amd64/

    I don't know if you will ever need to use this but just if you ever do.

    Thanks for the pointer mrguy...
    I wanted to venture into 3d programming, so a pinter to the right libs would be helpful
