notepadqq is basically notepad++, but for linux
my question is, i don't see a settings option to change settings
i wanna make it so {} and () auto complete, but not sure how....

That is on their wishlist from 2014. I suggest you download a more recent editor, maybe even an IDE, or type the brackets yourself.
