Default How do you attach a WD Scorpio 1200VE External Hard Disk Drive to Mac OS X

Does anyone know how to connect a Wester Digital Scorpio WD1200VE Hard Disk Drive to a Mac OSX Snow Leopard Sealed Unit Desktop? I can't find any manual online or any other person giving a description on how to attach it to a Macintosh of this type. I was given a PATA connector cable with it, and that's it. The HDD is contained in a plastic case, and is apready connected to a circuit board. I'm using the hard drive to run Ubuntu 14.10 Vivid on it. I gave some pictures of the HDD, thanks for any person that can help me.

The connector above the power connector is USB. Find a cable, connect it to USB, ..., profit!

Which one is the USB though, and what does the power connector need to be connected to?

The one with the round pin in the center is the power. According to the picture, it is 5vdc and draws .5 amps. It should be easy to find a compatible wall wart. Directly above it looks like a type B usb port. The one above that looks like a IEEE 1394 High Speed Serial Bus port (aka FireWire). You might try doing a web search on the part number. A local computer shop could probably provide more definitive information.

Thanks Jim that helps me a whole lot. Any tips on how to put Ubuntu 14.10 Vivid on there, and then boot Ubuntu from the hard drive, and let the computer run it from the hard drive it's connected to, display it, process it's data, save the data to the hard drive, and allow the user to still do inputs and outputs? I'm a huge Linux fan, sorry for tge incredibly long sentence though.

In deference to the OP, he did post it in Forum Lobby which says its for off-topic discussions. And from a Java perspective, this is quite off topic.

I recommend you look at the Ubuntu site for help on OS installation. Since you already have a working system I suggest you focus on just getting your current system to recognize the drive. Once you are certain it works okay, you can then worry about using it on another system.

True, but I still don't understand why the OP is asking here (after all, this is still a Java forum); it's a highly technical question that can best be answered by Google (e.g. this link: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sw...cOSX#Dual-Boot), but I still think the OP can't program himself out of a wet paper bag ...

    kind regards,
