Default How to install the JDK Video tutorial

    Hello all,

if you are at the absolute beginning of the java learning process, this video is for you. In addition, I have set up a blog which will have many other tutorials coming in the near future, both written and in video form for convenience.

(you tube and blog link removed)

Also, if you are interested in staying up to date with the upcoming tutorials, please subscribe to my youtube channel (programmingessentials) or my blog. Thank you and happy programming!

I haven't seen this video, but here's my question: how is this process difficult? Is the process any different than downloading the setup, starting it from the place where you downloaded it to, and hitting enter a few times? If you wanna go crazy, you could even change the install location! Where do people even go wrong here? What difficulties can one encounter that it requires a random dude/dudette to record a HOWTO-video?

I am not trying to be condescending, patronizing or pedantic here, this is a serious question. How is this video-tutorial-worthy?

My intentions are to make a tutorial series that covers all the fundamentals in java, and I feel it would be best to start with downloading everything necessary.

When you say something do you mean the JDK? The JDK is necessary for java programming.

I figured I would post to a forum to reach a larger audience, I didn't realize I would get so much criticism for doing so.

    But why?
It's something that's available in many different forms already, not least of which is Oracles own tutorials.

Besides, if someone wants to see it they can Google.

Actually, I am never confident on the quality of posted tutorial sites since I don't know the level of their expertise. But isn't that what the Reviews/Advertising subforum was created for? Why not let the OP post it there?

You're right, there are definitely many videos on this topic already. I just thought it would be easier for the viewers to be able to remain on one channel and find everything they need to learn the fundamentals of java, which includes installing all of the necessary components. I understand now that this probably isn't the best tutorial to be displaying on a forum.

Good thinking, but MANY people have thought that before you ;) But respect for your intentions.

If you want to really put something out there with your name on it AND actually contribute, do the hard thing and focus on the topics you have expertise with and not many people dare or want to write about.

    OR:

just ignore this thread and keep doing what you're doing, its your time and effort after all - spend it as you wish.

    +1 for Gimbal's comment

Even though I asked a critial question does not mean I applaud these initiatives. To be honest, I haven't published anything at all even though I am in the software business for more than 15 years, so you are ahead of me there already :)
