Default Edit Configuration and Launch for a Maven Project

I imported a project from git like this Import -->Git -->Projects from Git option in Eclipse. Here is how my Eclipse Mars looks like after resolving dependencies related issues (screenshot below). When I right clicked on pom.xml , and did Run As --> 1. Maven Build, I noticed the following dialog. Is it mandatory to set these goals and how? This seems little bit complicated with the simple command line maven build command mvn install -DskipTests. Please advise.

Question #2: Do I need to convert this project to Maven project using eclipse? I don't thinks so because I already have pom.xml

These are just configuration options for you Maven build. If you like them, just hit enter.
I think you can avoid this dialog if you right click on the project folder and select run.

Thanks for your reply, when I right clicked on the project I see the following but "Run" option at my end. Please see the screenshot below:

Also, does bypassing the Edit configuration step means that the project will be build automatically? Thanks

I am not sure. I think you have to set the build configuration in any case at least once. Then each time you select build, it will make a build for you. If you want to run the project in Eclipse you choose "Java Application".
