Post How to make custom shaped JFrames

I want to know if it is possible to create a custom shaped JFrame. I'm not talking about a circle or anything more like joining differently sized rectangular JFrames kind of like photo shop how they kind of a frame around the photo with the tools on it. Is this possible with swing?

Yes. It sounds like you want to have a bunch of JPanels inside a large frame, each panel providing some sort of wizard capability. You can also use internal frames. See the tutorials in my signature.

And you can also have a frame in pretty much any shape you want. But it can't be decorated. So that makes it more like a window.

If you're trying to make a MDI application, JDesktopPane and JInternalFrame would be your best option. There's a section about their usage in the tutorial that Jim mentioned.
