    Default Getting which Jlist fired event listselection listner

    Hey u got a problem i wanted to know what JList fired event. I made geters and seters to my JList's add Listselection listner the same for both lists.

    PHP Code:
    String[] lo = { "A", "B", "C", "D" };
    		String[] un = { "1", "2", "3", "4" };
    		JList list_Load = new JList(lo);
    		JList list_Unload = new JList(un);
    		list_Load.setSelectionMode(DefaultListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
    		list_Unload.setSelectionMode(DefaultListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
    		list_Load.addListSelectionListener(new MyListSelectionListener());
    		list_Unload.addListSelectionListener(new MyListSelectionListener());

    class MyListSelectionListener implements ListSelectionListener {
    		public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent evt) {
    			if (!evt.getValueIsAdjusting()) {
    				System.out.println(evt);
    				JList list = (JList) evt.getSource();
    				Object[] selected = list.getSelectedValues();

    				for (int i = 0; i < selected.length; i++) {
    					Object sel = selected[i];
    					System.out.println(sel);
    					System.out.println("on Jlist:" +list);
    					boolean b =evt.getSource().toString().contains("551");
    					System.out.println("String:" +b);
    					//list.clearSelection();
    					if(list==getList_Load()){
    						if(list_Unload.isSelectionEmpty()!=true)
    						list_Unload.clearSelection();
    					}else if(list==getList_Unload()){
    						if(list_Load.isSelectionEmpty()!=true)
    						list_Load.clearSelection();
    					}else{
    						System.out.println("Error");
    					}
    				}
    			}
    		}
    	}
    It always give me an error and i whana know what Jlist was clicked, selected. The only 1 thing i manage to make out my idea i was using group Layout and:
    boolean b =evt.getSource().toString().contains("551");
    i manage to get Jlist by position by "containing cords".

    Is there any other way to get know what Jlist was clicked and compare it, get reference??

    The event object passed to the listener has a method to get the source of the event. Your code uses it here:
    Java Code:
    boolean b =evt.getSource()....
    Compare what is returned by that method to the references to the JList objects like list_Load.

    It always give me an error
    Please copy the full text of the error message and paste it here. It has important info about the error.
    If you don't understand my response, don't ignore it, ask a question.

    I re write it but:

    PHP Code:
    String[] lo = { "A", "B", "C", "D" };
    		String[] un = { "1", "2", "3", "4" };
    		JList list_Load = new JList(lo);
    		JList list_Unload = new JList(un);
    		list_Load.setSelectionMode(DefaultListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
    		list_Unload.setSelectionMode(DefaultListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
    		list_Load.addListSelectionListener(new MyListSelectionListener(list_Load));
    		list_Unload.addListSelectionListener(new MyListSelectionListener(list_Unload));

    class MyListSelectionListener implements ListSelectionListener {

    		private JList firelist;

    		public MyListSelectionListener(JList list_type) {
    			this.firelist=list_type;
    			// TODO Auto-generated constructor stub
    		}

    		public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent evt) {
    			if (!evt.getValueIsAdjusting()) {
    				System.out.println("this:" +this.firelist);
    				System.out.println(evt);
    				JList list = (JList) evt.getSource();
    				Object[] selected = list.getSelectedValues();
    				String c =evt.getSource().toString();
    				for (int i = 0; i < selected.length; i++) {
    					Object sel = selected[i];
    					System.out.println(sel);
    					System.out.println("on Jlist:" +list);
    					System.out.println("List load??:" +c);
    					boolean b =evt.getSource().toString().contains("551");
    					System.out.println("String:" +b);
    					//list.clearSelection();
    					if(this.firelist==list_Load){
    						System.out.println("Selected listload");
    						//if(getList_Unload().isSelectionEmpty()!=true)
    						list_Unload.clearSelection();
    					}else if(this.firelist==list_Unload){
    						System.out.println("Selected listunload");
    						//if(getList_Load().isSelectionEmpty()!=true)
    						list_Load.clearSelection();
    					}else{
    						System.out.println("Error");
    					}
    				}
    			}
    		}
    	}

    What does that mean? What is the value in firelist? Print it out and also print out the values that it is compared against to see why it doesn't match any of them.
    If you don't understand my response, don't ignore it, ask a question.

    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at ModsPreluncherView$MyListSelectionListener.valueCh anged(ModsPreluncherView.java:832)
    Look at line 832 and find the variable with the null value. Then backtrack in the code to find out why that variable does not have a valid value.

    What value is passed to the constructor? Add a println() in the constructor to see what it receives.

    Did you try what getSource() returned vs a reference to one of the JLists like: list_Load?

    Java is totaly nuub language:
    when passing listload as parameter it shows on this. reference to current jlist but when comparing
    if(this.firelist==list_Load){
    System.out.println("Selected listload");
    if(list_Unload.getSelectionModel().isSelectionEmpt y()!=true)
    System.out.println("Error1");
    //this.affectlist.getSelectionModel().clearSelection ();
    }else if(this.firelist==list_Unload){
    System.out.println("Selected listunload");
    if(list_Load.getSelectionModel().isSelectionEmpty( )!=true)
    System.out.println("Error2");
    //this.affectlist.getSelectionModel().clearSelection ();
    }else{
    System.out.println("Error");
    }
    It gives always error, comparing is not working.

    When passing geterlistload() it gives on this NULL reference, but comparing works and then clearing selection give npe....

    Why use firelist? Use what is returned by getSource().

    Is firelist given a good value? Are you saying its value is null? If so, why is it null?

    comparing is not working.
    Did you print the value of firelist? What was it?
