    Default Mockups and Gridbag

Any suggestion as to what the most appropriate mock-up tool is? Particularly with regards to GridBagLayout.

Something useful in decision making of gridheight and width.

Yes that would be the best option. I lack fine motion control in right hand. :(

GIMP, with a grid built from the snap to bars.
OK, maybe not "best", but I know how to cobble something together with it.
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

Ah, that sucks. Any drawing tool that you're comfortable using is good then. The point is that you don't need a fancy "mockup tool" to come up with a GUI.

I suppose you could try one of the GUI builders, but those are the root of all evil in Swing, so I have trouble recommending them to anybody.

I would never touch a GUI builder!

That's a good attitude in general, but for a mockup a GUI builder is actually perfectly fine and probably the best tool for the job.
