Is POI the right solution ?
I am working on a Java project in which I need to automatically create .doc or .xls documents and fill them with data from a form.
I have been searching the whole Internet for a solution, then I found POI.
Can you tell me if POI can answer my needs ? I only need a solution to create documents, but it shouldn't change anything on my projet except this particular thing. The reason I'm telling you this is because POI seems to be a big project and I don't know if I can use one or two classes to fill my documents. The solution I need shouldn't force me to change my server (must run on both MS Server or Linux Server) or anything else...
Moreover, can you tell me if using POI inside my project will be a hard process ? Should I count it in days ? weeks ? month ?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply :P:
Re: Is POI the right solution ?
POI's not so great at Word files, since it's hardly been touched in the past few years and is little more than a sandbox app.
It's good with Excel ones.
If you don't know POI then it'll take a little while to get the hang of it, but that applies to all the Excel packages IMO.
As for how long it'll take to do what you need...well, we don't know anything about your requirements.
