Default Different Maven Versions locally and remote

I have so much experience with maven. On my server there is maven 2.2 installed. It is my remote repository.
On my client, I am trying to update to maven 3.3, but I have dependency problems.
Is it even possible, to run a different version of Maven on my server, or do I have to update the server also?

I would be very thankful for help.

    Thank you.

Technically it should be possible, but only if the poms are formatted to be Maven 2 compatible.

You'll have to be more specific about your "dependency problems" if you want any kind of assistance. One thing that did not change between Maven 2 and Maven 3 are the dependency repositories.
