    Default GUI and Threads

    I have a runnable class that starts a thread (new Thread().start). This thread will be entering a loop that lasts forever. How do i update the invoking classes GUI while running? Even without a loop, appending to a textarea wont show. I tried JPanel.revalidate.

    What does your current program look like now? How are you trying to solve this now? Are you performing background processes off of the EDT? Are you calling Swing calls on the EDT? An article that might interest you: Concurrency in Swing
