Process name

Weather it is windows task manager or a unix/linix ps command java applications process name always show as java.

Does anyone know of a way to change the name of the application process from within the app itself? Im pretty sure the JVM won't allow it, but I can't find anything saying it won't.

Never say never, but I seriously doubt you can do it from inside the JVM. I'd look at how the OS names processes when it creates them.

BTW, it's "whether it is ..." Weather has to do with outside temp, etc. I almost didn't understand your question ;-)
