Wow.. what a difference a notification makes.  In just under four hours we have equal the number of votes that we had in four weeks!
Keep the votes coming! 
Since I am new, I really don't want to vote...
Not voting is your right. You are free to make this decision and I think you will find respect for it. That said, can you explain what the following means?
...for something that the community doesn't stand for.
I understand it is one whole sentence but I broke it up because there are two different points in it. Specifically, I'm having difficulty understanding, "what the community doesn't stand for" and its meaning. Can you elaborate?
And I think that question is different from the below additional quote:
... what are the goals/what is the community trying to accomplish over all others?
You're in a community. A community specifically devoted to Java. I think the forum appearance and the choices in this poll indicate this. If you're in confusion over why we're doing this, then please see the link to the thread that is pointed to by this one where a discussion took place before this poll began. When you first walk into this forum, I think it's pretty evident what this forum is about. For example, it's not about discussing politics or baking food... unless of course you're in Lobby talking about this stuff. Also, keep in mind, this being a forum based on community, we typically make decisions in the democratic format, so your voice is important.. and hearing from folks in the form of the poll votes is one way you're able to make changes to your forums.

I think this works out well with the upcoming fall semester here in the states, so it'll probably be a good time to close this poll for good at that time.

Ya, sooner we can have large number of votes in this way. Better to select our new slogan as soon as possible. Because day-by-day new members are registered here in out community, stepping for the largest community may be .

I've cast my vote. I agree with not adding options to the poll, but for the final decision, option 5 needs to be changed - it should be Java Lovers' not Java Lover's.
Plus all the ones starting with A... could better start with The.... "The Largest ..." makes a falsifiable claim, whereas "The Community", etc, is more obviously aspirational, and inspirational. It's not very pure English but it's such a widely abused form that it's acceptable. "A Community" etc sound quite anaemic by comparison.

Thanks for the email notification. My favorite slogan is: 'Where Learning and Development Begins'.
I understand it is now too late to add something or make changes. However, I wish the word Java had appeared in this slogan. For example, Where Java Learning and Development Begins. Nevertheless, I take it as you have written it.

I clicked here from the email. Email is correctly done. Looks like traffic bumped from three to eighty three. Going for 'Developer' slogan that is leading gets us worried begninners. Going for the 'Beginner' version that is leading gets us beginners telling us we told them we would help them.

I voted the fourth one.
I think the 4th one is winning not mainly because it's more catchy than the others but because it doesn't have the word 'Java' on it.

Congratulations my friend, your option/vote has won by a nice little landslide.
Do we all agree now and can we now have a vote on the designs that are already made with the official new slogan? (not looking for everyone to respond obviously, just a few) I recall there are either four or six different designs... if I may have the people's permission, I think I'll post a poll with the pictures and the slogan embedded to see which picture we like best....
