    Floundering is no excuse for violating the Forum rules. Nor is it an excuse for a lack of common courtesy.

    And duplicated effort -- the same response in both of daemon05's threads, neither of which s/he returned to -- doesn't benefit anyone.

    courtesy is admirable. Kindness even better... It is easy for the complete beginner to become so immersed in the immediate problem and bamboozled by information overflow that the technicalities of cross-posting or even reading the forum rules right through go on the back burner. It is much harder for the technical expert to remember what being a beginner is like. Most posters to a forum come for help -- not to have someone show off their expertise at the subject -- even less to be put down by them. Expertise at assisting the person is what is really required.
