If you go to a specific forum there is a forum on the left side of the screen that shows the recent postings. There is also the 'new posts' button right under home at the top of the screen. You could also do an advanced search and specify the date from which you want to search posts.

I don't want to go forum by forum to see what has changed. Thats why I like the "Todays Postings" functionality which gave a listing of all posting changed for all forums in one place.
The "New Postings" works most of the time and that is what I use during the day to check updates. But (sometimes) I have problems in the morning. Once the cookie has been updated to indicate the last time you checked for new postings you can't clear it so I end up missing all the posting done overnight.
I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to that. But I guess for the few times that the "New Posts" doesn't work properly I guess I can do that. Thanks. You could also do an advanced search and specify the date from which you want to search posts.Last edited by camickr; 05-20-2011 at 06:51 PM.

I already stated this doesn't work for me all the time.
I use IE and keep multiple tabs open. At night I close down IE with these tabs open. Then next morning I then click on the "Restore Previous Session" link in IE. All the tabs open up but sometimes I get an empty page. I may not get around to actually looking at the tab page for an hour or so. Then I click on the "New Posts" button, but I only get the new posting for the previous hour. Therefore I can't access all the postings that where made over night unless I do a custom search.
I was wondering what happened to the "Todays Posts" link which used to appear in the "Quick Links" menu, which appears to be just a convenience link for a custom search for all posting made for the previous day.

camickr, if you send me the url for the advanced search corresponding what you are looking for, i can add that url to the Quick Links menu. It looks like it is removed in Vbulletin 4 (current version of the forum software).

The url that shows up after I click on the "Search Now" button from the "Advanced Search page is: http://www.java-forums.org/search.php?searchid=3761
It seems that a new searchid is created every time I do a search.
The way I create the search is:
a) under "Search Types" I just select "Posts"
b) under "Find Posts" I use "Yesterday", "and Newer"
c) uder "Sort Results By" I use "Date", "in Descending Order"
As best I can tell the replicates the old functionality. Thanks.

Please check this discussion: Login Required - vBulletin JIRA
It looks like that functionality will be re-available in the next update.
