Can we have some sticky threads detailing forum rules and guidelines on how to post? For example, a link to How To Ask Questions The Smart Way on every forum would be infinitely helpful. The number of people who turn up with their homework assignments, ask for code to be written from scratch or just cross post "help me pls! urgent" is astonishing.
I don't mean to be rude or unpolite, but English isn't my native language so I might make a mistake ...
A good starting point is the FAQ, but there is a contradiction in "Bad language" -> DO NOT TYPE WORDS IN ALL CAPS. I mean, that phrase is typed in all caps :s
Also , in other parts of the FAQ, words are typed in all caps, while it's a rule not to do so.
Well, I do agree a link to Ask smart questions would be good.
That question has been asked many times. The final answer is no because the admin don't like too many sticky threads.
How about one sticky thread that has links to other interesting threads?

I have a doubt about these limitations.
In the Javaforum-FAQ I miss the instruction to properly close a thread or signal that the problem is (yes/no) solved. Maybe I don't deserve gratitude for all my contributions, but it feels bad if all the people I try to help seem to react on their programmingproblems by taking a sudden vacation.
Correction: the instruction is included in "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way". It just doesn't seem to work.
