bizarre auto expansion

I was trying to post a reply to one of Nick's questions, and when I used

Code:

www.nick.com

,
something expanded it to a link to Nickelodeon, the kid's TV channel.

This is not what I wanted, and it took about ten tries to edit it and make it stay as I typed.

What causes this? What makes folks think this is a good "feature" to have?

I'm not familiar with the issue you mention... when replying to you just now, I'm not seeing where you are running into this problem. Can you provide a more detailed walk through of what you are experiencing?

It was pretty easy, and reproducialbe. I typed in

as plain text inline and something expended it to:

Kids Games, Kids TV Shows, Videos, and Entertainment Television | Nickelodeon - Nick.com

Did it just now for me as I'm typing this response
