    Default What's wrong with jGRASP?

I've heard that not many people use jGRASP anymore. What is the reason for that? I use jGRASP whenever I'm on Windows 7 and it seems like a great IDE.

Many people seem to like the Eclipse software a lot, but I heard that Eclipse is heavy, requires a ton of plugins and what-not, and is an overall pain in the arse.

Well yes, obviously. My question was 'why is it not widely used anymore?' Are there objectively better alternatives?

In fact, I'm not even entirely sure that it was widely used in the first place. I just heard someone say that "nobody uses it anymore these days." And also someone on this forum mentioned that they are one of the few people who use jGRASP.

I don't use JGrasp so I can't state chapter and verse, but it's probably mainly a difference between light weight and heavy weight tools. Eclipse is a resource and memory hog, but it automates a lot for you and is completely configurable.

jGRASP usage in fall of 2012 was almost identical to fall 2011, but was up in the US.
