    Question Questions about OCPJP

Hello, I'm a new user in this forum. I have some question about Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer (OCPJP). The questions are:

1- I'm spanish and I should like find work about programming. My studies is FP Superior Informática (I think equivalent to BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT in UK). I know little about programming. My question is: With the OCPJP I learn to Object-oriented programming from zero?

2- Are there any official free resources to get OCPJP?

3- With OCPJP: Could I make WEB Developer too?

4- How do I get experience in programming if my experience is zero and in the jobs need minimun 2 or 3 year of experience?

    1. No, not really. You may pick some things up, but I advise you to get a book on generic object oriented programming, or scour the internet until you get a good picture of it.
    2. No of course not
    3. No, that's a separate set of certifications
4a. Pick a project and build it
4b. find a junior level position where you can learn and be trained on the job

Programming can't really be learned from a book or in a classroom, you learn it by doing (and making and correcting lots of mistakes). And you are not going to be any good at Java programming by getting this certificate either, you will only prove that you are good at cramming information in your head, but it proves little about you actually understanding the material. I would invest my money more wisely, like in books which you can use to look things up while you work hard building your first project.

Note: I assume you live in Spain - you may need to accept the fact that you need to move to another country to make a living in programming. My girlfriend is a programmer and from Spain and she really had to struggle to keep a job (Madrid area). Eventually she moved in with me in the Netherlands and within a week she was employed - and has been since, four years ago. Friends of hers have moved to the UK to get jobs.

    Thank you very much gimbal2

1- Could I colaborate in a project open source (for example: a project in the web SourceForge) and after write it in my curriculum vitae as experience?

Case of true: How I show in the interview that experience is not fake?

2- Could I work outside Spain as programmer with my FP Superior Informática (equivalent to BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT) or I need a IT degree?

Note: my english level is A1

    1. well you could try that, but popular open source projects don't allow you to just become a contributor, you have to prove yourself first. Provide small patches, help write the documentation, stuff like that. You can easily prove your contributions to a project by showing your activity in the issue tracker of the project. Some companies may even notice you because of your activity, but I wouldn't rely on that happening.

    2. You definitely need an IT degree

Your English is just fine and will improve rapidly with practice ;)
