JVM memory usage
I have 2 questions:
1. In JCONSOLE the mem usage is 270Mb, committed is 290Mb and Max is 1,5Gb. However the java.exe process in Windows Task manager is using about 500Mb of memory. Anyone have any ideas why?
2. In the VM Summary page it says:
Total physical memory:*
Free physical memory:*
However i have 4Gb RAM installed in the machine. Anyone have any ideas on this one?
Are you use any IDE for this?
we are developing in Eclipse. But not on this machine.
This machine is a webserver hosting an application. JDK 1.6 is used.
No whatever the machine you get 500Mb on Task Manager when you use an IDE. Is that right?
there is no IDE on this machine.
The JVM is running an application server (Resin from Caucho) and when it starts up it starts with around 40-50Mb of memory usage.
If you think its because of your code, you can try out one more tool called JProbe which gives you memory analysis too.
Im gonna have a look at JProfiler... See if that shows me anything.
Is that your application server comes with any details regarding it's usages of the system?
