    Default confuses me totally

Heya so I want to make a game like doom or better but I have no idea about java language so I go and watch tutorials and they help nothing.. sure they show me what to do but its like copy pasting a made code, whenever I watch a tutorial I always ask myself "what does that do" "why did he/she write that" "what does that do" "why is it so similar to the code before" etc. it just confuses me like public static crap no tutorial ever explains what each command does and why we need or do we need to write it, they just write it and say to write it no explaination given.

All I know is a tiny bit of programming in pascal and thats because of my teacher in school but I want to learn java online and without going on a course or crap like that

Looking at the games with lack of story and options I want to make my own but always give up because it makes me instantly confused

    what to do D:

If you're not familiar with JAVA, I wouldn't start with trying to program a game.
The tutorials may not make sense in the beginning because you aren't familiar with the terms/keywords/etc, but just stick with it, and it should start to make sense as you go along.
If there are individual concepts that give you trouble along the way, you can always come back and ask questions.
Have you done the classic 'Hello World' example yet?

nope I've just done what told in some video tutorials to create something they created in the tutorial and yet i still have no idea the heck public, static, void, int, boolean, private, applet and every crap in there means, I just do what told in videos and it ends up the same but I never know what each of those words/commands does, what makes me even more confused is that I can't find a good tutorial playlist that teaches you in true steps like they do in courses.. my friend always tells me to watch tutorials and I do and understand nothing :/

Take a few steps back. If you had to take a reasonable guess as to what 'int' was, what would you say? In the video tutorials, in what context is the word 'int' used? You may not understand how to put together a full program, but give yourself more credit than 'not knowing anything'. Take a look at a few more JAVA tutorials. Or, try to find an example of a short JAVA program online (source code), get it running on your computer, and then, since you know what the program does, you can ask questions about how things work.

From what I have seen, I would recommend you avoid online videos related to programming. I have checked various ones out after certain OPs do things that are wrong but claim they saw it on a YouTube based tutorial. The videos also tend to be more like a cook book. If you really want to understand the Java language, you should get a book. Get one that at least covers Java 1.5 (includes generic types). You might even check your local library before shelling out money. Ours has quite a few but they are very popular.

Always the first thing that people do is try to create a game. Before you will be able to do that it will take you a few years to learn the language. thats what I am doing.

    Heres a good start:

    1. Youtube: Java Programming 1 by Bucky
(go through those to get a start)

    2. then buy Heads First Java (book) 2nd edition once you have gotten good with the youtube tutorials

I recommend, to make sure you are like Java before buying the book. Also, Dont do to much in one day, the brain only lets you learn a little each and every day. You should only be able to get maybe passed 5 videos a day.
