Default Something to do with text editing

    Hi Sam ,
i have query regarding showing contents of file in texteditor.
i am working on web app where user can open a fille from drop down list of files .
when user will select a particular file and open it , then file should be open in editor to modify its contents in web app.

    As if by magic!

    So, OP.
No applets, so the text editing has to be in the browser?
    Presumably some html text field?

    Where is the file located?
    On the server?
Is that where the edited text needs to go back to?
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

Take your favourite pair of scissors and cut this problem in smaller pieces and solve them one by one:
    - Create select with filenames in an HTML page
    - Process selection of filename in a servlet
    - Return the file contents to the browser
    - Submit the form back to the servlet and write the request data to the file.

If this is something you are creating for a client or a company, please please please make sure that you double, triple, quadruple check the input. It takes me and a lot of others about 10 seconds to open Firebug, hack your select box so it reads "/etc/ssh/sshd.config", "/etc/passwd", "/root/.ssh/authorized_keys", "/etc/ssl/private/private_key.crt".
