Default Leaning Java For Android Development

I am currently learning Java using the book: Java, A Beginner's Guide by Herbert Schildt. The purpose of learning Java is to develop Android apps. However I am confused on how to proceed with this. What should I do after completing the book? Is the knowledge enough to start learning Android Development? If yes, then where should I start?

    That's...not a very good book.

But that aside, you will probably know enough to start coding for Android, as most of it is the structure of an Android app.
Any decent Android starter book also covers some of the "how to code in Java" as well, so you should end up with a better grasp of Java than with Herbert's book.

I posted this same question, though I already have a background in Java.

The responses were absolutely useless, because the question was not actually understood very well. I asked what the best tutorial was, and I was looking for somebody who has taken a look at a couple to tell me which one they think had the most knowledgeable person - there are dozens out there, some are good, others are not good - both in the teaching style, and the teaching material.

I can tell you that after looking around at a couple, I found that this guy was the best by far:

MAKE SURE you check out this video also by him - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw_RP3IdtnQ
It shows how to fix an error I kept getting at first.

He also just created a new set of tutorials which may be better - I'm going through the old ones first, then I'll head on to the new ones.

Here is the link to the first of the new tutorials:

What is it with You Tube tutorials?
I must be getting old, as I really cannot sit there and watch some bloke babbling on...

Yep, that's it. But I suffer from it too ;)

Its so hard to copy/paste videos to try stuff out too.

Hey, I use books...I tried copy pasting from them, but I just got glue all over the monitor.

Old fashioned books, modern ones come with a digital copy and a website holding the source code ;)
