    Meh, I don't see it as learning a sorting algorithm; I see it as personal training into implementing algorithms in general which is something more people should do. Why not a sorting one which are well-documented?

    Quite refreshing to see someone willingly do it rather than being pushed by an evil school teacher :)

    Agreed on all points. I just wanted to make sure OP knew he didn't really *need* to implement his own sorting algorithm. It is good practice, but then again so is implementing your own ArrayList or binary search tree.
