What were you, the computer and program doing when this happened?

I don't quite understand your question. All I was doing was launching the software. That error message popped up. I uninstalled it and then rebooted computer, then re-installed Freephoneline software. Still got error message

Do you have other Java programs that you can try launching to see if you get the same/similar error message? It could be that your Java installation is corrupted, and needs a reinstall.

Sorry, I have no idea what the program is. How do you "launch" it? Is it a jar file you click on? Or what?
    re-installed Freephoneline software
Have you contacted the authors of the program?

BTW I don't visit other sites.

In this case I'd suggest you contact Freephoneline support for assistance.

To me that answer implies they don't know what's wrong with it. Maybe it's time to change providers. Yes, there is a possibility that your computer needs to be repaired - if your hard disk has started developing bad sectors, and it so happen that the bad sectors are where your Java installation is located. I don't think this is likely, but you can check. E.g., Check your hard disk for errors in Windows 7 contains instructions to check your hard disk for Windows 7.

Another possibility is you (your computer, rather) have a virus infection that corrupted the Java installation. Try a full system scan using a good antivirus application.

Finally, on Java specifically, try Verify Java Version to see if you can find out which version is currently installed. Due to the error message that you had, this may not work. If it works, make a note of it. Go through https://www.java.com/en/download/faq...erversions.xml to find out how to uninstall Java. After it has been uninstalled, download the latest version from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp.

Note that there is a possibility Freephoneline doesn't work with the latest Java version. If that's the case, you can either try to find out from them if they know the Java version it requires, or just use trial-and-error to try to find a version that works with it.
