    Default Console background color

    Hi there!

I'm very new to java and was wondering if anyone could help me out... I'm using eclipse to run my java program.
I want to be able to change the background color of the console when the user types in a particular command..
    e.g User types: color blue
Then the background color of the console should turn blue

Is this possible and how would I go about doing it?

    Please help!

Do you want the background of the console in Eclipse to change, or the actual command prompt on Windows to change?

You can change the console colors under Eclipse using preferences under the Window menu. It is under the Run/Debug menu option.

Thanks Jim. Is there a way to write a java program that allows the user to enter a color, and then the program should set the background color to that color?

Basically you want a java program which can manipulate the capabilities of the IDE outside of the IDE. Plugins can be writen to modify or add functionality to Eclipse. But that is different. And even if you could do it in say an MSDOS cmd window, the Eclipse IDE behaves differently. So again, I don't know how it would be done. But others may have some insight.
