Default Good intermediate-level code to read?

    Hello all,

I read that reading other people's code will help me become a better programmer.

Could you suggest some good open source code for me to read?

It should be understandable and interesting. I'm at an intermediate level, and never read other serious source code (apart from tutorials etc).

    Thanks

You might want to check out some Apache Commons projects. The Collections subproject has nice bits of code to study.

    Sources: [Apache-SVN] Index of /commons/proper/collections/trunk/src/main/java/org/apache/commons/collections4

Apache code is generally quite good and readable yeah, mostly because they have quite strict code standards for committers.

I wonder what kind of code you're after though; there is a serious difference in how you would write the code for an API, the code for a web application, the code for a tool with graphical user interface or the code for a computer game.

    Thanks for your replies.

I'll be more specific: I'm looking for code preferably of a desktop application. Not something web-oriented, and not some tool or API for other applications.

Again, something relatively simple, easy to read and relatively easy to learn from. Thanks
