    Default Help with Dr Java/Loops

Gonna keep this short: I am as tech savvy as a wet paper towel, my school demands I take a tech course in order to graduate, but my focus and past experiences have nothing to do with coding.
My proposition: I don't have the time (job to pay rent, volunteer for a charity etc) and to learn a new skill I'll never utilize after this course is complete so I ask, would any be interested in completing short projects for me? I'll happily reimburse you if the grade I receive is 70%+ with the amount I'd pay reflected on how high the mark was. If you're interested PM this account.

    Assignment.
    To gain experience with
    • Loops in Java (for loops and while loops)
    • Picture manipulation

    Task:
Your task is to create a collage of various images. A collage is “an artistic composition of
various items glued onto a surface”.

    Part A:
In this part of the assignment, you will add two new methods to the Picture class, each of which
does some kind of picture modifications. You can modify the pictures in any way you like! Check out
the textbook and lectures for some examples. Be creative – you can decrease the color, add lines, make
    black and white, blur, etc.

    Functional Specifications for Part A:

    1. One of your new methods must use a for loop and one must use a while loop.

    2. You should add your two new methods to the Picture class, after the line that looks like this:

    /////////////////////////////////////// methods ///////////////////////////////////////////

Add them to the file Picture.java that you downloaded and used in Lab 5.

    3. To show that your two new methods work, you will write a Java test program in a class you make
called TestMethods that will be saved as TestMethods.java. The code to get you started on
TestMethods is provided below; you need to add statements that a) create picture objects and b)
invoke your methods on them to change the pictures and show your methods work. Your test
program must include code that displays both the original image and the image after it has been
changed by your method. Here is an algorithm for the test program:

    • Get an original image (use FileChooser)
    • Display it on the screen
    • Change it using your first method
    • Display the changed image on the screen
    • Get an original image (use FileChooser)
    • Display it on the screen
    • Change it using your second method
    • Display the changed image on the screen

This forum is for people who need help with their programming. Not for people to ask for people to do things for them. We aren't going to do your work for you. That is cheating.

Tell that to the 2 people who already PM'd me offers. Call it what you'd like, I've been forced to spend part of my tuition on a course that's useless to me and I simply don't have the time to learn how to code. Please don't think ill of me, this is a last resort and the first time I've sunk to this. I'm not saying it's justified by any means, I'm saying that it's a choice between sacrificing my time helping children in my community that doesn't have enough help as it is, or learning something that will never be used again and soon forgotten after the course ends.

Life's all about making choices, and sometimes there's not necessarily a correct choice to be made.

I like his story; he manages to throw in a bit of social manipulation 101 to keep the balance between him being the bad guy (cheating on his Java course an even willing to pay for it) and him being the good guy (paying the rent, helping poor little children), but I don't understand how anyone can force somebody to study something he doesn't want. Sure, you can force somebody to work in a mine, to carry rocks from A to B, but you can't force anyone how and what to think, except parents with their spoiled adolescent brat who partied too much instead of doing his homework. +1 for nor throwing in a nuclear bomb that destroyed his house and +1 point for not throwing in his dog that ate his homework. +1 point for not pointing at his professor that didn't explain anything; otoh, the OP wouldn't recognize charity if it were dancing on a piano, wearing a purple tutu, singing 'I am charity! I am charity!',so I too think ill of him.

    kind regards,

    Jos

Right, anyone who is in need for honest reasons must be a social manipulator, what a sad person you must be to assume the absolute worse of others.
I also think it's REALLY cowardly to make an observation and ban without hearing a retort. You write your snide comment from a dark room because that's what the angry do nowadays. I got the task completed so thanks for the help! Think whatever you will of me at this point, I won't be reading nor replying beyond this point.

I know I have no business responding to a dead post but I can't blame JosAH for the remark. You come off as arrogant self-righteous begger who believes himself to be entitled to a grade because you paid for an opportunity.
"Tell that to the 2 people who already PM'd me offers" - This is your pride getting mad at someone because they shattered your bubble.
"I've been forced to spend part of my tuition on a course that's useless to me and I simply don't have the time to learn how to code." - Then why are you doing the course at all. If its a requirement you knew what was coming why didn't you buckle up and get serious about completing it. They aren't going to give you the grade just cause you paid for the course, showed up for a class or two, and you think you have some type of predestined entitlement.

See the thing that bothers me and should bother you is this part:
"Please don't think ill of me, this is a last resort and the first time I've sunk to this. I'm not saying it's justified by any means, I'm saying that it's a choice between sacrificing my time helping children in my community that doesn't have enough help as it is" -
Your sacrificing your time to help people who need help, which is an honorable thing to do, but then you turn 360 and cheat your way through a class, a dishonorable thing to do imo. Each time you cheat you are implicitly stating you are more qualified than someone else of your equal ability who doesn't cheat. Your playing robin hood but you don't acknowledge that you are robbing those who deserve their grade. You make time to help some people then implicity cut others down while slowly hanging your education.
Either try better social engineering (cause this didn't work) or do the right thing, find an alternative to succeeding or quit.

I'm sure you'll take this as a hateful post but in case some of this got to you here is some advice for future posts on any forums for topics of any help that you may have:
    1) When you post show what you have done. This shows you have made the minimal effort to try to learn and succeed at what your doing.
    2) Ask for a specific advice not a handout. If your having trouble answering a part of the problem ask for a strategy on solving the problem or a segment on how to answer that part of the problem if that part is small enough.
